TITU

...is supposed to mean Today in the Union. It is not supposed to mean Today in the Psychology Building, because if it did mean that, the correct acronym would be TITPB.

I encountered this little dilemma today when I arrived at Memorial Union at 6:57, three minutes before the MSA panel discussion. I looked on the TITU sheet only to discover that the discussion was actually in 105 Psych.

I was 25 minutes late.

Something New

I'm trying out a new template. I'm going to let it sit for a while and see how I like it. I have been getting bored with my other one, and have decided that my blog needs major revampage. I still need to figure out how to add links and pictures. Hopefully that won't take too long.

txt msgs

Email from my dad today:

Hi Liz:

I changed our phone plan to include txt messaging for you. It was way too expensive the other way. You need to turn your phone all the way off and then power it back on to activate the new plan.

Thanks,

Dad

I guess I send a lot of text messages. At least Dave doesn't seem too angry, so that's good.

What do I do in my spare time?

a. watch TV
b. hang out with the roommates
c. read a non-school book
d. nap
e. none of the above

ANSWER: E. NONE OF THE ABOVE

Why is my answer none of the above?? Because I HAVE NO SPARE TIME!!

Spare time activities do not consist of:
-the time spent writing this post
-getting coffee (because it's usually just me staying at Espresso Royale to do homework)
-working out
-the 20 minute break(s) I take from studying to facebook and read blogs
-talking on my phone while in transit
-crossing things off of my to do lists
-weekend festivities

When I was a freshman, finding free time was never a problem. Granted, I used to not have a job during the school year, I wasn't in AIESEC, I rarely left Lakeshore, and I was a champ at staying up past 2am to do homework. It was completely normal to spend hours in my dorm room, turn to my friends and say, "So, should we really watch a fourth episode of the OC in a row? Yea, we have nothing better to do." These past two weeks I haven't even had time to catch up with Grey's online. Every night freshman year, 12:30am would roll around and our floor would make the trek over to lower Frank's to get ice cream. We would then proceed back to Sullivan, watch Conan, procrastinate some more, and then decide to get back to homework for at least another two hours. Three years later, 12:30am hits and I am already struggling, and I don't even have 8:50s.

I wouldn't trade being busy for being bored, but I am craving just an hour at home where I can sit and do nothing, and not have to think about everything I still need to get done.

Maximum Capacity

It's official: This Saturday I will be hosting this semester's AIESEC Newbie Social.

With the arrival of 55 awesome newbies tomorrow, there is a chance that my apartment will be holding up to 100 people at some point in the night, making for an extremely tight squeeze. To create a sufficient amount of space for dreamliving, a couple of ideas have been bounced around.

1. Rearrange the furniture. This will keep people from toppling over our couches as well as each other. The transformation should turn my living room into a sweet dance floor.
2. Funnel people down the hallway. This is actually a very logical plan because our hallway is long enough to do the 40-yard dash.
3. Show people the balcony. Actually, I'm kidding about that one. It's really a pseudo-balcony.

A few weeks ago the capacity waters were tested when my roommate hosted a new member pre-bar for her sorority. Over 60 freshman sorority girls swarmed my apartment. While consuming vodka like it was their job, standing on the counter, and stealing my spot on the couch, they left us four non-Greeks completely overwhelmed with the entire situation and not wanting to relive it again.

An AIESEC newbie social is really nothing compared to a sorority new member pre-bar. As for reaching maximum capacity, I'm not too worried about it.

Red Light, Green Light

Actually, it's more like green light, green light. That is what I got to stare at for four and a half hours today at work. The monotony of scanning invoices for the entirety of my shift made today the most boring day at work yet. Not that my job was ever that thrilling in the first place. I guess considering I paid off two credit card bills today (one being what was left of my extremely underbudgeted Eurotrip) I suppose I can play green light, green light a while longer. I will just have to keep reminding myself that the Promised Land comes with expensive monthly payments, and spending money is a necessity for the quasi-compulsive shopper that I am.

My second EBD interview was today. Although this morning I struggled to calm my nerves and felt like I was going to throw up, an hour and fifteen minutes later I hung up the phone feeling 110% better, and knew that I had turned a complete 180 from my first interview. We will see what happens. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm so glad today is over.
